Establish a culture of ecumenical and interfaith cooperation, respecting the uniqueness of each church and its traditions while focusing on our shared values of human dignity and human rights.
Involve church organizations not currently working on HIV to integrate HIV-related activities into their mission.
Identify and document examples of good practice in HIV and AIDS intervention programs led by churches.
Promote and strengthen links—including coordination and oversight—with PNG Christian churches and faith-based organizations at the national level, to ensure appropriate engagement as part of a comprehensive national AIDS response.
Governance – Educate Church leaders and Health & HIV Program Managers on good governance principles to promote accountability and transparency in the use of both international and national funding and resources. These efforts should support the implementation of approved programs that deliver better results. In addition, mobilize resources to enhance the capacity of affiliated members.
Advocacy – Utilize the existing media and work with partners to effectively advocate to address issues on HIV & AIDS and to guide the Churches’ response to ensure promotion of education and awareness to prevent the transmission of HIV and inform people of the importance of HIV Counseling and Testing.
Research – Engage with relevant partners in the development of appropriate research documents to conduct research in relation to the Church response to HIV and AIDS in PNG, based on sound ethical principles which are consistent with the current HIV pandemic in PNG.
Partnership & Networking – Develop an enabling partnership and networking policy that is sensitive to sustainability of HIV & AIDS programs and activities based on Christian principles and values so that the policy can guide churches when entering into partnership agreements with national and international partners, including inter-church related partnerships.
